Letters to the Editor

March 3rd, 2008 by amyro

Tennessee AppleRegular Apple commenter Jeane left a couple interesting comments about Tennessee this evening, so we’re bumping them up into a post of their own to share them with everyone. She’s been in contact with the film’s director, Aaron Woodley, who confirmed that it will be premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival this spring and teased that there will be more information on the project in the weeks to come.

Jeane also noted that Mariah’s recent appearance on Extra included the following comments about Tennessee:

That was intense. It was tough. It was like a discipline, to not be me, walk like me, do anything like … ’cause you don’t want to take people out of the movie and so this is the route that I’ve always wanted to take. It’s like doing independent films with people that I really respect.

Finally, the Heroes of Mariah website, in addition to a nice page rounding up info and various comments to the media by cast and crew, has a link to the script reader’s breakdown and analysis from March of 2006. I only glanced at it, but it looks legit and it certainly appears to be a detailed breakdown of the plot, so if our readers don’t want to be spoiled by either reading a full synopsis or the reader’s opinion about the strengths and weaknesses of the original screenplay, best not click through. Keep in mind, though, that it is an analysis of the original screenplay as of March 2006; since the film didn’t go into production until almost a year later, it is certainly possible that there were alterations in the interim.

Thanks again to Jeane for all the great dish.
