According to the Heroes of Mariah fansite, Tennessee‘s sales rep, Elephant Eye Films, has put the word out that the film will get a theatrical release in the US and Europe with a DVD release to follow. Further details to follow. |

Wow, this is great news!
Thanks for the news. I’ve been wondering if this film will get a distribution and theatrical release. Glad it’s not just going to dvd and we’ll get to see it in the big screen. Can’t wait to hear more news about this.

According to Director Aaron Woodley, Tennessee is scheduled for theatrical release in December of this year!

Tennessee to Play at Urbanworld Filmfest in September
Tennessee is one of the featured “Spotlight” films at the 12th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival presented by BET Networks on September 10-14 in New York.
The screening venues for Tennessee will be at AMC 34th Street Theater (312 West 34th Street, between 8th & 9th Avenues) and Tribeca Film Center (375 Greenwich Street, between North Moore & Franklin 2nd Floor). Screening schedule and ticketing information will be posted as soon as available.

Vivendi off to ‘Tennessee’
Film unit grabs rights to Lee Daniels pic
Vivendi Entertainment has grabbed all U.S. rights to “Tennessee,” the latest pic from “Monster’s Ball” producer Lee Daniels.
Directed by Aaron Woodley (“Rhinoceros Eyes”) and written by Russell Schaumburg, the film was produced by Daniels in association with Smokewood Entertainment.
Adam Rothenberg, Ethan Peck and Mariah Carey star in the tale of two brothers on a journey to their hometown in search of their estranged father. Carey plays an aspiring singer who flees her abusive husband to join them.
In the film, Carey performs original ballad “Right to Dream,” which she co-wrote with Willie Nelson.
Vivendi has set a December release.

NEW YORK — “Glitter” star Mariah Carey will soon be returning to a movie theater near you.
Vivendi Entertainment has acquired all domestic rights to the singing actress’ film “Tennessee,” which premiered at this spring’s Tribeca Film Festival.
The Lee Daniels Entertainment production is a quiet and at times moody drama centering on two lower-middle class brothers (Adam Rothenberg and Ethan Peck) who take to the road to resolve their economic and health challenges. Along the way they meet and bring along a waitress (Carey) whose dreams of a singing career have been dashed by a bad marriage.
Director Aaron Woodley’s film features Carey performing the original ballad “Right to Dream,” which she co-wrote with Willie Nelson.
“Tennessee” will hit theaters this December.
Vivendi’s Yolanda Macias negotiated the deal with Jonathan Gray of Gary Krauss LLP and the film’s sales reps, CAA and Submarine Entertainment.
