Cast Photo for The Ex List (May 2008)

As we mentioned way back when, Adam was recently cast in yet another female-oriented project, the CBS drama pilot The Mythological X, which has turned into an official CBS drama series, The Ex List, controversially set to debut in Moonlight’s old spot this fall. An import based on the series Mythological X, it’s the first Israeli series to be adapted for American network television.

A little clip from the series (with no Adam, sadly) can be found at the CBS site and cautiously optimistic reviews (also with no Adam) can be found at the New Jersey Star-Ledger and Buzz Sugar. It looks as though the original series was a one-year one-off, but showrunner Diane Ruggiero claims to have plans for the second and third seasons, should the show survive.

THE EX LIST (formerly Mythological X) is a comedic drama about Bella Bloom (Elizabeth Reaser, “Grey’s Anatomy”) – a single, 30-something, successful business owner who is surprised to learn from a psychic that she’s already dated her future husband AND there’s a catch: if she doesn’t find him in the next year, she’ll remain alone forever. During a bachelorette party for her sister, Daphne (Rachel Boston, “American Dreams”), Bella learns from the psychic she must revisit her past relationships and sort through the mistakes to find her soul mate. Skeptical, Bella begins to analyze every past liaison and failed romance with her close circle of friends, Augie (Adam Rothenberg, “Mad Money”), an endearing guy who has listened to Bella’s love woes since college, Vivian (Alex Breckenridge, “Dirt”), Augie’s long-term girlfriend, and Cyrus (Amir Talai, “Campus Ladies”), who’s chronically unemployed and full of wry observations. Once Bella witnesses proof of the psychic’s other predictions, her cynicism disappears and she begins her search. Along her trip down break-up lane, Bella is determined to remain optimistic and receptive, believing that when destiny reopens doors to the past, every relationship can matter in the future. Diane Ruggiero (”Veronica Mars”) and Jonathan Levin (”Charmed”) are executive producers for Twentieth Century Fox Television.

Gemini Bot DJ

Aw, that’s right, y’all! It done rolled around again!

Our Adam is a year older and a year wider, as in W O R L D W I D E.

America’s heart-throb has simply blown UP this year — lighting up both the small (The Ex List) and big screens (Mad Money, Tennessee) with his moist, multimedia magic.

So drop the phat tunes and get jiggy with it, Nation, ’cause Adam always saves the last dance for his most devoted fans.

This day is dedicated to him… and the ones he loves….

Adam Rothenberg and Mother Gillian at Tribeca Premiere of Tennessee (April 26, 2008)

Adam and his proud mom Gillian took in the premiere of his latest cinematic offering last night, an event which brought out Tribeca Film Festival founder Robert DeNiro, Ben Kingsley, Edie Falco and, of course, the Tennessee family. Watermarked images from the red carpet and after-party can be found at Getty Images (here and here) and WireImage. The Mariah Carey super-fansite Mariah Daily Journal, has a batch of Mariah-centric non-watermarked images, a few of which sport our favorite leading man (here, here and here).

In other news, Tennessee’s website has been spruced up and revamped and Adam can be spotted briefly in this clip from Access Hollywood.

On the business side, a stroll by Elephant Eye Films has revealed that Tennessee’s gonna be taking its act to the Cannes Film Festival for a market premiere on May 16th. The official website has Elephant Eye listed as the international sales agent for the film, with Submarine holding down domestic sales duties.

Thanks to commenter Jeane for the heads up.

Are We There Yet?

With Tennessee debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival in a few short days, the Apple just wants to update everybody on the latest news. A couple of clips featuring Adam’s co-stars, Ethan Peck and Mariah Carey, have appeared on the web and the film’s Tribeca page has been fleshed out a tad. There’s been a glut of Mariah-related news and a lot of Tribeca news and a fair amount of Tennessee buzz, but it’s pretty quiet out there for Adam Rothenberg updates. We’re keeping an eye out for more news when the preview embargo lifts after Saturday.

Tickets are still available for four of the shows, but the May 3rd screening is rush-only. (Note that Tennessee’s page says the premiere is rush-only, but it looks as though additional seats have been released, as the ticket site itself has availability.)

Thanks to commenter alan for the heads up on the photo and, as always, please feel free to use the comment page as an open thread for any Adam news.

Pilot Season Already?

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Television AppleAdam’s been cast in the CBS drama pilot, Mythological Ex, an Israeli translation about “a woman who, after learning from a psychic that she already has dated the man she’s supposed to marry, revisits all her past relationships.” News at 11.

As noted in the post update below, our readers have been hard at work sending Tennessee news our way, so people looking for the newest news on that project may want to take a look at the comments section.

While we’re at it, “Submission,” Adam’s Law & Order episode, is available for download at Amazon Unbox.

Thanks to Apple regular Jeane for the photo and the heads up on the Tribeca listing.

The April 26th showtime has been changed, from 6 PM to 4 PM.

Update (April 3, 2008):
The April 26th showtime has been changed, again, from 4 PM to 6 PM. Sigh.

Update (April 7, 2008):
Just a quick note to our readers that there are some nice tips in the comments section with regard to buzz that’s starting around the film and some behind-the-scenes footage that’s leaked out. Due to time constraints on our end, we may not be able to post on everything (we can’t compete with Mariah’s legion of fans), but we do appreciate our readers passing on whatever choice tidbits they can find. Thanks to Jeane and Jay for their fine sleuthing.

School Days

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Just a quick programming note to remind everyone that Adam is expected to debut on Lipstick Jungle tomorrow night, Thursday the 20th, at 10 PM ET on NBC (click on the above to watch the Adam-free preview). According to The Futon Critic, his Law & Order episode, “Submission,” is currently scheduled to re-air on Saturday, April 12th, at 10 PM ET on NBC.

Update (March 20, 2008):
I may have missed Adam due to some technical difficulties, but it looks like Adam did get cut out of the episode. Rats. Looked to me as if the show was looking to wrap things up in case LJ doesn’t get renewed and decided not to introduce any new characters. If I missed it, let me hear all about it in the comments.

Update (March 22, 2008):
NBC pulled the preview video so we have.

New York, New York

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

This afternoon, the Tribeca Film Festival formerly announced that Tennessee will be appearing as part of the Discovery slate of films. Hollywood Reporter noted that, while “Some established stars also can be found … arguably, more eyes will eagerly await the world premiere of Aaron Woodley’s ‘Tennessee,’ featuring [Mariah] Carey (’Glitter’) as Krystal, a free spirit who joins two brothers on a search to find their father.”

We’ve compiled some ticket info for everybody after the jump and we’ll get more specific scheduling info posted as soon as possible.

Update (March 14, 2008):
Commenter Jeane brought us the news that indieWIRE had posted a full run-down of the films from the Discovery slate, which includes thirty films, with eighteen World, one International and eleven North American Premieres from up-and-coming directors. In a statement, Peter Scarlet, Artistic Director of the Tribeca Film Festival, said, “With so many new voices and talent in filmmaking today, it is always a thrill to be able to find exciting new artists and introduce them to our audience in our Discovery section.”

Tennessee is described as an “intimate road movie,” in which “two brothers travel to the hometown they fled as teenagers to find their estranged father. When they are joined by a spirited woman (Mariah Carey) running from her abusive husband, they begin to grow closer, and the truth of their journey comes to light.”
