Lipstick Jungle AppleAdam’s Lipstick Jungle debut as “a kindergarten teacher with an empathetic smile and gorgeous eyes” now has an airdate and a synopsis. “Carpe Threesome,” Chapter Seven of the series, is set to air on Thursday, March 20th, at 10 PM ET on NBC, a week and a day after his scheduled Law & Order appearance. He’s not mentioned in the synopsis that we pulled from TV Central’s Lipstick Jungle forum, but the other new characters mentioned can be found in the same casting notice as Adam’s, so it’s probably the right episode.

20 Mar 07 Chapter Seven: Carpe Threesome
Wendy (Brooke Shields) is dealing with a very difficult scriptwriter, Lorraine Lippman (Marsha Mason), who cannot seem to put an ending to her movie. Wendy makes a bold move and tells production to move forward, leaving it up to her to get the final script from Lorraine in time. Nico (Kim Raver), still very caught up in her dual life with Kirby, faces a harsh reality when she receives news that Charles (Chris Cousins) has had a heart attack. The scare makes her realize how much she misses her marriage and brings her life back into perspective. What will this mean for Kirby? Elsewhere, Victory (Lindsay Price) is getting used to the idea of Joe Bennett (Andrew McCarthy) as her boss instead of her boyfriend. Hockey superstar, Chris “Parks” Parker (Bobby Cannavale) and his wife grow very fond of Victory. The relationship heats up, which puts Victory in a very compromising position.

For the Tennessee completist, we’ll just pass on the tip that Mariah’s been chatting a bit about her recent film projects during the promotional swing for the musical part of her career, as in this Access Hollywood clip in which she discusses how her previous cinematic missteps have informed her current choices.

Tennessee’s Comin’ to New York

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Tennessee AppleAccording to Mariah Carey’s fansite, the delovely diva paid a visit to TRL yesterday to announce the big, big news that Tennessee will be appearing at the Tribeca Film Festival this spring. Oh, and to launch her new video, “Touch My Body”. Show Adam’s co-star some love and vote for it. And it’s got Jack McBrayer! The Apple staff sure loves them some Jack McBrayer. The Mariah Daily Journal has a downloadable video of the announcement, posted at midnight today.

We were getting a little impatient there, but this is pretty cool. No schedule or official roster of films has been announced as of yet, but the website does currently offer a mailing list and, for American Express cardholders, various ticket packages composed of presently unannounced films. This year, the festival will run from April 23rd to May 4th and tickets for individual shows will go on sale April 12th for AmEx cardholders, the 18th for downtown residents and the 19th for everybody else. As always, updates to follow.

Update:
If past years are any guide, we can expect the official lineup to be released around the middle of March.

Just a quick update on one of Adam’s other projects, Lipstick Jungle received an order from the network for another six scripts. Still no word on whether additional episodes will be filmed (or the status of Adam’s character), but it is doing reasonably well with its target demographic of women 18-34 and women 18-49, so we’re cautiously optimistic that our man Adam may be on our TV screens on a regular basis in the very near future.

Lipstick Traces

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Lipstick Jungle AppleAdam’s relentless pursuit of the female audience continues with a turn in the midseason replacement, Lipstick Jungle, based on the novel by Sex and the City’s muse, Candace Bushnell. Rumor has it he’s playing a sensitive yet presumably foxy kindergarten teacher/Brooke Shields love interest at some point this season. We don’t have airdates for Adam’s episodes yet and the future of the recurring role is tad uncertain, thanks to the ongoing writer’s strike, so check back in later for more updates.

Lipstick Jungle debuts on NBC, Thursday, February 7, 2008, 10 PM ET and stars Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price.

Update (January 23, 2008):
While trying to find out when Adam would be making his appearance, I found the following casting notice:

Title: LIPSTICK JUNGLE , TV Series - 1 Hour for NBC. Episode Title: #107. EXEC PROD, Oliver Goldstick, Candace Bushnell, Tim Busfield; DIR, Tim Busfield; WRTR, Lisa Alden, Dan Bucatinsky. Shoot Dates: January 24-February 4, 2008 (in New York). Breakdown … Ben: 35, Male. Kindergarten teacher with an empathetic smile and gorgeous eyes. (Posted: December 24, 2007)

So it looks like he’s probably debuting in the seven episode of the series, which would presumably be late March, early April, something in there, but we’ll keep trying to pin that down.

Mad Money (January 18, 2008)

After months of torturous anticipation, we here at the Apple can hardly believe it…

Mad Money opens in cinemas nationwide, TODAY!

Believe us, it’s no contest. Cloverfield ? Just another tired faux-doc with off-brand twentysomethings and derivative kaiju eiga trappings. And, please, don’t even get us started on 27 Dresses. Haven’t we seen this movie 27 times already? A film so obviously powered by cliché-combustion is a clear and present danger to the environment. Go green this weekend. Money green.

How can Adam ever hope to pay off his monstrous backgammon-incurred debts without your help?

America, Mad Money needs YOUR mad money. Today, and beyond.

Sunday Slices: Doink-Doink

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

We’re heading into the home stretch for Mad Money (46 long days away!), so let’s take a spin through all the latest Adam Rothenberg developments.

Adam on TVThe eighteenth season of the apparently unkillable Famous Original entry in the Law & Order franchise will benefit from a very special appearance by our Adam, along with Lara Flynn Boyle and new series regulars Jeremy Sisto and Linus Roache. L&O’s making a comeback to Wednesday nights on NBC starting on January 2nd, so Episode #7, “Submission,” should appear sometime in March, but we’ll keep our readers updated when we get a definite airdate.

A little clip of the Boyle character is featured in the series preview on NBC’s website, which, coupled with the episode title, should give the spoiler-inclined a fair chance at figuring out the basic premise.

More updates after the jump.

Mad Money Release Date January 25, 2008

The Apple is giddy with anticipation at the thought of celebrating the new year with our man Adam’s big-screen debut now that imdb lists Mad Money’s expected release date as January 25, 2008, 111 long days from now. We’ll be gearing up for the big day with new features and special treats for the faithful in addition to sifting through the press coverage around the project for Adam-related tidbits.

If you just can’t wait until then, Mad Money will have its debut screening at the American Film Market on November 2nd in Santa Monica, according to a notice in Variety. A mere $250 and a willingness to pretend to be an indie industry insider will get you a day pass and a chance to be a part of the magic.

For the second post in a row, thanks to Ann and Google for the heads up.

Update (October 14, 2007):
The press release for the Mad Money Starz events posted on above had the U.S. release date as January 18, 2007, which is now being “confirmed” by imdb. We’ll keep an eye on this and update as needed.

Birthday Blather

Gemini twins

Today, June 20th, Adam Rothenberg celebrates another year of life on this frail planet.

How old is our Adam? Well, a gentleman never asks nor tells, but curious fans are encouraged to count his rings… if they can get close enough.

Let the record show, however, that Adam is a florid Gemini. And that he shares a birthday with Jacques Offenbach, Olympia Dukakis, Charles Chesnutt, Martin Landau, Lillian Hellman, Chet Atkins, Eric Dolphy, Danny Aiello, Errol Flynn, Brian Wilson, John Goodman, Lionel Richie, Anne Murray, and two World War II heroes… French Resistance martyr Jean Moulin, and super-patriot Audie Murphy — winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

You may not have given your life to undermine the Vichy regime in France, Adam, or singlehandedly killed 50 Nazi infantrymen while standing atop a burning tank only minutes away from exploding, but, gosh darn it, you’re still OUR hero.

Mazel tov!

P.S. If you’re so inclined, leave Adam a birthday wish in the comments below…. Remember, it’s lonely at the top.

Now it’s been three-ee years on the Internet.

And that’s a magic number.

Take the Money and Run

Mad Money

Although I must admit that I was a little saddened to discover that this flick wasn’t a remake of 1980’s How to Beat the High Co$t of Living, I was overjoyed to hear that Adam would be appearing in it. Written and directed by Callie Khouri of Thelma & Louise fame and starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes, Mad Money appears to continue our favorite thespian’s well-established pattern of appealing to those of us mercifully free from the burden of the Y-chromosome.

Adam’s certainly on a roll these days. It is, most definitely, on.

Mad Money

A woman who was used to the finer things in life is suddenly thrust back into the work force after her husband gets downsized in writer/director Callie Khouri (Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood)’s American adaptation of the hit British comedy Hot Money. Faced with the prospect of losing her home as her debt begins to mount, posh housewife Bridget (Diane Keaton) accepts a job on the midnight cleaning crew at a local branch of the Federal Reserve Bank. When the growing temptation of the cash that surrounds her night after night ultimately proves too powerful to resist, Bridget teams with two of the other cleaners for a criminal exercise in creative moneymaking. Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes co-star in a crime comedy inspired by actual events. (All-Movie Guide)
