Not Coming to a Theater Near You … Yet?

Monday, December 15th, 2008

According to a report by Access Hollywood, Tennessee‘s release date has been pushed off from this Friday, December 19th, to a later release, tentatively scheduled for March.

The film has had a couple of festival screenings so far as well as a one-week run at the beginning of December to qualify for Oscar contention, largely in the hopes of getting a nod for co-star Mariah Carey’s “Right to Dream,” listed among five front-runners by the Los Angeles Times:

THE POP STAR

Mariah Carey’s “Right to Dream.” In need of a guitarist for “Right to Dream,” Carey aimed high, going straight to country legend Willie Nelson. Written for ” Tennessee,” in which Carey plays an aspiring singer, “Right to Dream” is restrained elegance, with some light, finger-picked guitar flourishes and a dash of late-night soul. “I was humming different melodies while I was on the set and stuff,” Carey says. “I was just thinking that Willie Nelson would be somebody fabulous to collaborate with. I reached out to him, and we met after one of his concerts.”

Thanks to commenter Jeane for the heads up on the For Your Contention ad from the December 3 Los Angeles Times and h/t to the Mariah Daily Journal for the scan.

Cast Photo for The Ex List (May 2008)

As we mentioned way back when, Adam was recently cast in yet another female-oriented project, the CBS drama pilot The Mythological X, which has turned into an official CBS drama series, The Ex List, controversially set to debut in Moonlight‘s old spot this fall. An import based on the series Mythological X, it’s the first Israeli series to be adapted for American network television.

A little clip from the series (with no Adam, sadly) can be found at the CBS site and cautiously optimistic reviews (also with no Adam) can be found at the New Jersey Star-Ledger and Buzz Sugar. It looks as though the original series was a one-year one-off, but showrunner Diane Ruggiero claims to have plans for the second and third seasons, should the show survive.

THE EX LIST (formerly Mythological X) is a comedic drama about Bella Bloom (Elizabeth Reaser, “Grey’s Anatomy”) – a single, 30-something, successful business owner who is surprised to learn from a psychic that she’s already dated her future husband AND there’s a catch: if she doesn’t find him in the next year, she’ll remain alone forever. During a bachelorette party for her sister, Daphne (Rachel Boston, “American Dreams”), Bella learns from the psychic she must revisit her past relationships and sort through the mistakes to find her soul mate. Skeptical, Bella begins to analyze every past liaison and failed romance with her close circle of friends, Augie (Adam Rothenberg, “Mad Money”), an endearing guy who has listened to Bella’s love woes since college, Vivian (Alex Breckenridge, “Dirt”), Augie’s long-term girlfriend, and Cyrus (Amir Talai, “Campus Ladies”), who’s chronically unemployed and full of wry observations. Once Bella witnesses proof of the psychic’s other predictions, her cynicism disappears and she begins her search. Along her trip down break-up lane, Bella is determined to remain optimistic and receptive, believing that when destiny reopens doors to the past, every relationship can matter in the future. Diane Ruggiero (“Veronica Mars”) and Jonathan Levin (“Charmed”) are executive producers for Twentieth Century Fox Television.

The Friday Night Lineup for CBS:
8:00-9:00 PM GHOST WHISPERER
9:00-10:00 PM THE EX LIST (New)
10:00-11:00 PM NUMB3RS

The Ex List has also been picked up by Global in Canada.

Update (June 26, 2008):
CBS has announced The Ex List will debut on October 3rd.

More Sunday Slices after the jump and birthday wishes can still be left at the post below.

People! It’s People!

Monday, January 21st, 2008

As commenter Jeane noted, Adam makes an all-too-brief appearance in this week’s People to discuss his multivaried career path and his alleged rivalry with Tom Cruise. We could have used a bit more dish, but the lovely photo makes up for it. Almost. Take a look after the jump.

Mad Money (January 18, 2008)

After months of torturous anticipation, we here at the Apple can hardly believe it…

Mad Money opens in cinemas nationwide, TODAY!

Believe us, it’s no contest. Cloverfield ? Just another tired faux-doc with off-brand twentysomethings and derivative kaiju eiga trappings. And, please, don’t even get us started on 27 Dresses. Haven’t we seen this movie 27 times already? A film so obviously powered by cliché-combustion is a clear and present danger to the environment. Go green this weekend. Money green.

How can Adam ever hope to pay off his monstrous backgammon-incurred debts without your help?

America, Mad Money needs YOUR mad money. Today, and beyond.

Adam Rothenberg at the Mad Money Premiere (January 9, 2007 Live Video)
More from the red carpet, courtesy of LiveVideo.com. The whole thing’s only about four minutes long, but if you only have eyes for Adam, he appears with about 2:24 remaining to talk about his character and what it was like working with his three leading ladies. He pops up again later with 1:14 left to discuss what he would do with $5 million and then, with 14 seconds to go, records a little plug for LiveVideo.com.

Update (January 12, 2008):
Edited to add screen capture.

Adam at the Premiere of Mad Money

(Photo: Cohen, WireImage)

Mad Money had its premiere at the Mann Village Theatre in Los Angeles last night and, of course, Adam was there, looking dapper, proud parents and sister by his side (check out the Getty Images gallery for a couple watermarked snaps of the happy family).

While most of the press coverage naturally centered around Adam’s more established co-stars and their more established spouses, Page Six.com treated us to this tidbit:

And the women’s behavior on-carpet matched their attitudes on-set, co-stars said. Adam Rothenberg, who plays Katie’s boyfriend in the movie, told PageSix.com that production was pretty relaxed. “I think I was the only uptight guy there,” he joked, adding that the women “kind of made it a project to loosen me up. I thought I was presumptuous to pal around with them….so they teased me.”

On the Set with Adam

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Adam qua Bob Truman
Starz! recently wrapped up their ongoing promotion of Mad Money with a ten-minute look On the Set, featuring clips and interviews with the major players. Adam gets his own spotlight at about the 6:35 mark, which we’ve pulled out for easy viewing. The full segment with odd Adam sightings throughout is available as well.

Our thanks go out to TomKat Crazy for the new promotional photo used up top.

Adam in Action!

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Mad Money AppleEntertainment site Collider.com has posted nine clips from Mad Money and two feature our favorite thespian. The fourth clip on page 1, “Czechoslovakia,” has just a wee bit, but “The Bob Fund,” Clip #9, which can be found on page 2, is quite Adam-centric and is well worth checking out.

While we’re at it, the Apple staff might as well draw our faithful readers’ attention to Beth‘s comment from yesterday’s post, noting that Katie Holmes will be on Live with Regis and Kelly on Monday the 14th with Ted Danson appearing on the 16th and Queen Latifah finishing it up on the 17th. We’ll fire up the ol’ VCRs in the hopes of catching any stray Adam mention.

Beth also drew our attention to an upcoming Unscripted Moviefone interview that will feature MM’s trio of felonious females. If you have a query you’d like to posit regarding Adam or anything else, post it here in the comments section before January 12th.

Coming up this week: A friend of the Apple has procured a copy of the Starz! On the Set segment spotlighting Mad Money, which apparently features another Adam tidbit or two. We’ll get that up and running as soon as we can.
