Sunday Slices: Doink-Doink

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

We’re heading into the home stretch for Mad Money (46 long days away!), so let’s take a spin through all the latest Adam Rothenberg developments.

Adam on TVThe eighteenth season of the apparently unkillable Famous Original entry in the Law & Order franchise will benefit from a very special appearance by our Adam, along with Lara Flynn Boyle and new series regulars Jeremy Sisto and Linus Roache. L&O’s making a comeback to Wednesday nights on NBC starting on January 2nd, so Episode #7, “Submission,” should appear sometime in March, but we’ll keep our readers updated when we get a definite airdate.

A little clip of the Boyle character is featured in the series preview on NBC’s website, which, coupled with the episode title, should give the spoiler-inclined a fair chance at figuring out the basic premise.

More updates after the jump.

The Mad Money Trailer Is Here!

Adam qua Bob Truman

After yesterday’s disappointment with the Entertainment Tonight feature, we here at the Apple were mighty pleased to view the Mad Money trailer we downloaded today off of the Movie Trailers Blog. There’s actually quite a lot of Adam, beginning at the 1:33 mark on through the end. Kind of a shockingly large amount of Adam really, including the super-duper close-up used above.

The film’s website also appears to be up and running. There’s nothing Adam-specific up there at the moment, but there is a Mad Money Sweepstakes ready to go and we’ll keep an eye on the site for updates.

Click on the above to view the video (or download your own high-quality copy from the Movie Trailers Blog). More screen captures after the jump.

Mad Money on Entertainment Tonight Tomorrow

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Adam on TVOur intrepid commenter Ann has once again scooped le Apple with the news that the Thursday, October 25th edition of Entertainment Tonight (check your local listings) will feature a preview of Mad Money. The preview’s preview is up and running over at YouTube (embed after the jump) and features a couple of glimpses of our Adam! Adam laughs!

We’re firing up the ol’ VCR as we speak and we’ll get that video to you, our dear readers, as soon as we can. Or you can just watch the show yourself. Either way.

Update (October 25, 2007):
Since the story had even less Adam than the Sneak Preview after the jump, we’re going to pass on it. Just enjoy the comparative abundance in the video already posted.

Mad Money at ShowEast

ShowEast Logo

Word has leaked that a rough cut of Mad Money was screened at Thursday’s ShowEast 2007 and a few audience members rushed on over to the imdb forum to post their (mostly) enthusiastic impressions.

One commentator even showed our Adam a little love in the process, noting that: “The little known actor playing Katie Holme’s boyfriend is a real find and great comic relief.”

The people have spoken! Our “little known” Adam is “a real find”… at least for those who don’t read the Apple regularly.

More detailed comments after the jump. Thanks to brainwashed katie over at Free Katie, via Google Alerts, for the tip.

A Brief Programming Note

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Mad Money’s set to get a wave of promotion on the Starz collection of channels, beginning with a Starz Movie News piece at 8:55 PM (ET/PT) tomorrow, Sunday the 14th, with subsequent repeated airings throughout the month. It appears there will be a couple more of these shorter pieces followed by the making-of special, On the Set: Mad Money, and the Mad Money Marathon hosted by Queen Latifah and her mother, Rita Owens. We’re having a little trouble sussing out the schedule for the remaining pieces, but we’ll get those posted in the calendar at the top of the sidebar as soon as we can.

Sunday Slices: Pay Dates

Mad Money Release Date January 25, 2008

The Apple is giddy with anticipation at the thought of celebrating the new year with our man Adam’s big-screen debut now that imdb lists Mad Money’s expected release date as January 25, 2008, 111 long days from now. We’ll be gearing up for the big day with new features and special treats for the faithful in addition to sifting through the press coverage around the project for Adam-related tidbits.

If you just can’t wait until then, Mad Money will have its debut screening at the American Film Market on November 2nd in Santa Monica, according to a notice in Variety. A mere $250 and a willingness to pretend to be an indie industry insider will get you a day pass and a chance to be a part of the magic.

For the second post in a row, thanks to Ann and Google for the heads up.

Update (October 14, 2007):
The press release for the Mad Money Starz events posted on above had the U.S. release date as January 18, 2007, which is now being “confirmed” by imdb. We’ll keep an eye on this and update as needed.

Mad Money Cast Photo

Ahh! Look at the happy cast of Mad Money. Beaming smiles around the horn and our Adam and Katie Holmes holding hands.

In a recent interview with People magazine (picture after the jump), Mad Money director Callie Khouri said “Katie and Adam Rothenberg had great chemistry.” We here at the Apple are glad to hear it but can’t help but wonder when Adam will reach those hallowed heights of fame where only a first name is needed to evoke his heavenly form.

Sunday Slices: We’re Number Two!

Sunday Slices (Adam in Jail from MAD MONEY)

The Apple is back for another roundup of items and updates from the world of Adam Rothenberg. Enjoy.

In the first part of a two-part Entertainment Tonight interview with Adam’s Mad Money co-star Katie Holmes, we picked up the confirmation that there will be “on-screen passion” between the two in the flick and also nabbed the brooding production still used above. Nice.

Many thanks to Myma over at katieholmes.com for the video.

Mad Money was expected to wrap production on June 8th, which would have been Friday. Still no official site or release date, but a fairly awful poster for Mad Money has popped up (we stole our copy from Katie-Holmes.org) that I’m personally hoping is some kind of draft placeholder thing.

We can also give a big thanks to Katie-Holmes.org for the May 11th production still above, which was also featured in the May 28th Life & Style as part of a little Katie-related piece which noted that an insider claims that she and Adam have “great rapport.”

The Mariah Carey fansites have been tracking the development of Tennessee pretty closely and recently reported rumors that the film might debut at a film festival this fall to be followed by a general release in 2008. Or something. Nobody really knows at this point is what we’re saying, although David Cronenberg (director Aaron Woodley’s uncle) has seen a rough cut and given a big thumbs up to Carey’s performance. Sadly, no word on what DC thought of our man Adam.

Adam Rothenberg

Heading into Week 2 of Adam’s breakthrough role as “Man Katie Holmes Might or Might Not Be Flirting With,” we here at the Apple thought we’d round up some of the more Adam-centric tidbits from the mountain of largely redundant press clippings we’ve been sorting through.

Expanding on the story they manufactured debuted back in April was Star magazine, whose May 14th cover featured the on-set snap as part of their second Adam appearance. As we noted, there’s been a slew of stories on this rumor, from Fox News to MSNBC, from TMZ to Defamer, largely based on the Life & Style report and mostly retreads of the same old, same old.

Going a bit beyond to dig out some nice trivia for the newbies was the May 14th issue of InTouch. Although insisting that Tom totally trusts Katie, the publication nevertheless felt the need to feature a little box comparing the “sexy” “rising star” Adam Rothenberg to a curiously ticked-off-looking Tom Cruise, satisfying one query by our commenters Tom and Joslin, who wanted to know Adam’s height (5′11″). (We should note they also claim he made his reputation on the Broadway stage while the closest he’s been thus far is just off Broadway on 8th Avenue, so we’d take the height assertion with a grain of salt.)

In addition, they mention that Adam is from the fine state of New Jersey, that he served in Army at Fort Bliss in Texas and even manage to work in a little plug for Tennessee, which should be moviegoers’ first real chance to get to know him as an actor.

Big thanks to Sammie323 for the fine scans of this piece; we would have missed it otherwise.

And, finally, in addition to all the stuff that everybody else already reported on days before the magazine hit the stores, the Life & Style piece gets bonus points for finding a photo of Tom Cruise that kind of sort of makes him look like Adam and for the above quote from Adam’s presumably proud mother, Gillian. (Unfortunately, they lose points for reversing one of the production shots on their cover, which always makes people look kind of creepy.)

That’s all we’ve got for now, but we expect this to become a regular feature here at the Apple as we watch Adam’s career unfold over the coming months, so check back in with us later for more news.

Adam Gets KOed

Adam on Keeping Tabs

In the interests of full disclosure, it should be noted that we here at the Apple, while initially amused by gossip about the alleged AdKat hookup, are getting a wee bit bored with the whole thing. At least until the shots of a topless Adam and a Tomless Katie canoodling about Shreveport come out. We’re saying we’d like to see some documentation on this thing. Until then, we’re all about the acting, baby.

Despite this, we couldn’t help but find ourselves giddy like schoolchildren at the inclusion of Adam on the May 2nd episode of Countdown with Keith Olbermann. We don’t actually know how Adam feels about KO, but the staff here at the Apple have been fans since his first pairing with once-and-current tag team partner Dan Patrick on SportsCenter, so it was a big cheap thrill for us to have two of our favorite men sharing the airwaves if only for a moment.

Watch it! Before the video police shut us down.

Recap after the jump. (more…)
